2009 was the second year that I costumed the MAPAN Code Blue Dancers – a group of Anesthesia nurses who took it upon themselves to liven up the usual entertainment provided at their annual conference. Their first number was a disco medley. I designed and made draped neckline sparkly tunic tops and floral wigs (inspired by Priscilla, Queen of the Desert).
The second dance routine was done to the song “More” from the movie Dick Tracy and had a burlesque theme. The ladies wore costumes based on cigarette girl outfits, with miniature top hat facinators.
Speaking of fascinators, here’s two more I made in 2009:
A ruffled apron (costume piece). Two tone decorative stitched edging.
Another ruffled costume piece for a gentleman dressing up as Adam Ant.
A two piece fairy character costume. The underdress (chiffon overlay) can be worn separately as a regular garment. The bodice has snaps beside the back zipper for clipping in a pair of fairy wings.
The final project of the year was a set of custom xmas stockings, including a miniature one for the cat…
